We base our products on Microsoft technology so Outreach™ integrates with SharePoint - but you do not have to adopt SharePoint to use an Outreach™ solution. PDF-based solutions
If you're comfortable using a format designed as a paper substitute rather than for online interaction, then a PDF-based solution may be right for you. Adobe's LiveCycle is the best known - although it is a global brand with premium up front and ongoing prices. PDF-based solutions support offline working but the extra effort to design and engineer both offline and online processes means that the cost/benefits need to be carefully assessed for each requirement.
Secondly there are third party PDF products on the market. Toplevel chose not to base our technology on PDF for a number of reasons. General points: always be clear exactly how the licensing works, both directly with the supplier and with Adobe itself, and also consider whether the approach works well from a usability viewpoint.
Off-the-shelf business applications
By this we mean applications which perform a single function, e.g. expense management or room booking. If you’re certain that you’ll never need more than one or two of these applications, and you’re happy that standard software will cover all your business requirements, then these dedicated tools will most likely be the most cost-effective way of meeting your needs.
